Can't Add Device

It's been a while since I've made any changes to my setup. I've been updating the software regularly though.

I have a few new devices I'd like to add, but can't get them to work. I'm trying to add a new GE dimmer. When I Go to Tools --> Zwave commands --> Add Device, it starts up the process, flashing "Prsss the button on your device..." message very quickly then immediately says "Unable to add new device". Don't even get the chance to do anything on the device.

How can I get my new devices added? I've already restarted the system the setup is on.

Two suggestions:

1. Use the inclusion function of your Zwave USB stick by unplugging from the ICHA server taking it to the location of the Zwave dimmer and push the USB stick button once so that the ring blinks slowly. They press the include button on your Zwave dimmer. If accepted, the flashing light will change and flash twice quickly before going back to normal. Then plug the USB stick back into your ICHA server.

2. If the device doesn't add using method #1, then chances that device has been associated with another Zwave network. The way to reset that setting is to take ANY Zwave controller (you can use your ICHA server USB stick), and press the button twice on the USB stick until it flashes fast. Then press the include (or in this case exclude button which are one in the same). The USB stick will flash acknowledging it has been excluded, or reset to factory. Now you should be able to perform step 1.

Good luck!

Thanks. I was able to add the switch manually with the button. Would like to know what's going on w/ InControl though. :(

Thank you.

OK, so to chime back in here and I suppose close this out, overnight things have changed (??).

The fan switchI had wasn't working right. It wouldn't spin the fan. I started another thread on that, that I will close. Turns out Lowe's sells the fan switch too, so instead of waiting on a response from GE/Jasc, I bought another one to see if it did the same thing. The one from Lowe's (same exact switch) worked exactly as expected. So, I needed to remove the bad switch from my setup. Just for fun, I tried to remove the device from InControl. This time, it let me remove the device! Then, I connected up the new one and tried to add it through InControl and it worked just fine too. I have no idea why all of the sudden I can include/exclude devices normally now but I'm glad I can.

Long story short, all seems well over here now.

Thanks again for the reply.
