I am a longtime user of IC, now Axial.
Since day one i have had sluggish response on my devices and intermittent operation of Axial as it will just "lock up" and need to be rebooted to start working again.
Currently aside from the above continuing issues i can no longer access Axial via my iphone app.
i have tried to upload my log file but an error message says it does not accept that file extension. what am i doing wrong?

Some of my devices show up in certain scenes. Where it appears the others should show up, it states "please wait".
As if it is searching for those devices.
The restore mode was meant to prevent you needing to delete and have to re-do your scenes. Are your scenes showing your original devices or do they show a generic device or other message?
Follow up. Finally got all the old devices added and working via my phone app. The new USB stick seems to have taken care of the main problem i was having. None of my old scenes work with the new stick however, so unless there is something I missed with that, I assume I just need to delete out the old scenes and create new ones.
I am curious, the "restore mode" method I used did not seem to shortcut anything that much. Would there have been more work involved if i just installed the new stick and added all devices to it? Seems like that is almost what i did.
Ok. Must i exclude the ones i recovered first and then include them via the "network wide" option?

Locks and secure devices will only work if you use Axial Server to perform the include. For that you'll need to insert your usb stick, then use the "network wide" include found in the tools/zwave menu.
I continued to exclude and include devices and after repeated restarts of Axial I got all the old devices to disappear and all the new devices to show with no "R" or "recovered" message. I exited recover mode and I deleted my old USB stick.

The USB stick doesn't matter. You can safely delete the one titled "R" and just use your new one. I'm not sure why you've got some devices that are sticking around though. Do they go away when you do the restart?
I have not gotten any feedback since my last question but i have decided to forge ahead and see what happens. i have added several devices via the "exclude", "include" and "replace exisiting device" method. in some cases it seems to work as described. the old device disappears and the new device is now named as the old. in others cases both the old and new device are visible and i have to rename the new device manually. though most of the time i have to exit out of Axial and reboot it to get the devices to show up.
i see my old USB stick marked with an "R" and my new one. do i do a "replace existing devices" command to swap to the new USB before i exit out of Recover mode?
Not sure what is happening with the posts in the thread but hope I didn't do that.
So I right clicked and replaced my old device with the new one. Said it was replaced, but i don't see anything differnet about either device. The old one is still named as it was and the new one is still labeled the generic "Dimmer switch". Is that right? Should it have swapped names, or replaced the old one entirely? Do i now manually delete the old device and rename the new one and keep moving forward, or did something not go as it was supposed to?
You can also right click on the new device and choose the "Replace Existing Device With This" - you'll then see a list of your original devices and can click the one that the new one is meant to replace.
Sorry for the double post. Never saw the first one load so I did another.

I did as instructed and a new devices showed up. I varified the new device is the one i "excluded". But when I try to match recovered devices it tells me that; I do not have any newly included devices".

I did as instructed. Excluded the old switch, included it immediately after. installed the stick back into the computer. After a few a new device showed up. When I turn on the new device it is the same as the old one I excluded. However, when I try to "match recover devices". It says; "I do not have any newly included z-wave devices".
I must be much more inept than I think.

The include and exclude parts are not a function of Axial. It's purely a function of your USB stick and z-wave in general. Walk to your switch/device with the USB stick in exclude mode, then put your device into exclude mode. To do that, refer to your device manual, but most of the time pressing the switch on/off a few times will do the trick. Once you see the usb stick's light blink a few times in a special pattern, it'll indicate the exclude was a success. Immediately put your USB stick into include mode (turn off the blink, then turn it on again with a quick tap of the button), then put your device into include mode too (again, your manual will tell you how, but it's usually just a matter of tapping the switch once). You'll know it worked because the USB stick will again do a fancy blink pattern.
After you've included a device or two, put the usb stick back into your computer and wait a minute or two and they'll show up at the bottom of your device list. At that point, you can do a "match."
Also, don't exit recovery mode until you've completely re-included all your devices to the new usb stick.

Going room by room just keeps the list managable. When you insert your new usb stick (after doing the include) you'll end up with a lot of generic devices. Knowing which is which could be hard if you do all at the same time. If you go room by room, or only add a few devices at a time, it'll be easier for you to know which of the "StandardSwitches" match is what. You can exclude using your USB stick - press and hold the button until it fast blinks, then walk to the device and put it into exclude mode.
Follow up question. You stated I should "exclude" the device before re-adding it.
How do I do an "exclude". Im not seeing that command anywhere.

I do have the Aeon Labs version 5 sitck now.
So after I delete my new duplicate devices, I put in the new stick and exclude the R labeled devices? Then I have to go the each device and wake it and include it kind of like I did when I first installed them? Wow, was hoping to avoid that. Have about 50 devices.
The tutorial said to include them by room. Is that what you still suggest? I don't have any of my devices seperated out by "rooms" specifically. Just by names that tell me which room they are in.
Since you put your old stick back in, it pulled all those devices from the stick and added them as if they were new devices. You'll want to remove your old stick, then remove those "new" devices. You'll be left with only the original devices that now have the "R" in the name.
You didn't say which USB stick you have, but if it's the Aeon Labs with the push button, you can take that around and start including your devices. Again, exclude them first, then do a re-include. Try it with one or two devices at first, then re-insert your USB stick. You'll see those new devices popup with generic names, like StandardSwitch, or DimmerSwitch. You'll then click "Match recovered devices" and match those 1-2 new devices up to the original device (now named with an "R" in the name) - once you match it up, you'll notice that the "R" goes away and the device named "StandardSwitch" or "DimmerSwitch" also goes away.
So head to Aeon Labs for the drivers?
When I re-include the devices, how is that done? Do I click on the old device with the R and then go to tools and select "include"?
I notice I have my original devices with R next to them and then I have almost an equal number of new undifined devices.
When I reinstalled my old stick and tried to exit Recover mode, it started telling me I had unused devices and asked if I wanted to delete them. I selected "no". Wasnt sure what I was doing.
