device state

I am trying to configure a scene that monitors a power source and takes action based on whether the power source is on or off. To achieve this I have a power outlet connected to the power source. When the power outlet is on the scene switches other devices on and when off it switches them back to off. This setup works fine when I manually switch on and off the power outlet however when the power is lost the state of the power outlet does not change to off and Incontrol keeps detecting it as on. How such a scenario is normally dealt with?

How does the power "become lost" to the outlet? Are you saying that the physical power to the outlet is cut or is it just switched off?

If the actual power to the outlet is lost and gone, then InControl won't be able to communicate with the outlet to find out its current state, so it'll remain at the last known state forever. However, if you are simply switching the power on the outlet, then you should make sure InControl is polling that device and it should pick up the change for you.

Exactly, what I meant is the physical power to the outlet is cut. I am not not sure if in the next releases of Incontrol we can have the option to consider the device off if it's not reachable

It's a feature I can add...

On a side note, cutting power to a z-wave device will usually degrade the performance of the other devices in your network. This can happen since that device will usually act as a relay for instructions to the rest of your network.

It would be great if you can add it as a feature. I understand the performance issues however I have this device installed just to monitor the power source and I don't count on it to relay signal.

Thanks

This is now supported in version 3.25
