Since I am using a lap top can I use a different controller so that I dont have this stick hanging out of the side of the computer and hitting on everything. This controller worked ok with my setup for over a year. Now I cant reach half of my switches. I dont have any phone or the such so I dont know what happened. I dont know if the usb controller is the issue but would like to replace it with something that does not have to be plugged into the computer.
Is there any other controller we can use with incontrol that does not require a USB connection? Like maybe one plugged into the modem via Ethernet and might have better range. My current range of my Aeon Labs controller has declined sharply in the last few months and some of my devices are now out of range. Plus I am using a lap top and it is cumbersome when moving the computer around.
ZWAVE by design should repeat. Might try a "Heal Network" and see that helps. They also make ZWave repeaters might be worth looking into.

Also might check and see if there is any other 900 MHz devices like old cordless telephones, etc that might be hampering your range.

Don't know how GEN5 ZWAVE will work, but the specifications is even further range than the current generation.

I'm not aware of anything like this; the only controllers I know of need to be plugged in.

For range, if you buy a powered usb hub and plug your USB stick into that, it'll give you a nice boost in range.

Can In Control work with a different controller like Vera or Smart Things?
