Has anyone looked at the Iris stuff at Lowes? most of the sensors are ZigBee but all of the switches and hardwired wall plugs are ZWave (I Have 12 of these switches, two wall plugs and an outdoor power module)
I think it would be really cool if InControl could support Zigbee since the Iris sensors are Zigbee and a lot cheaper than the ZWave sensors.

There's no Zigbee support, but assuming there's a clean and simple API to Zigbee, a plugin could be created. Anyone have some info on it?

I have an Iris thermostat and outlet both running on my zwave network. Works with InControl, no problem. The items I bought both say that they speak zwave on the packages. They say nothing about zigbee.

Correct. Those items along with the light switches and a few other IRIS items ar ZWave. The nice cheap sensors are the items that are ZigBee.

Has anyone tried using the first alert smoke alarm that is Iris compatible?

You pair it with Iris but removing the batteries. Then while holding the test button put the batteries back and it will beep once it is paired. I wonder if it would work with Incontrol. $40 for a z-wave smoke and CO detector is not bad at all.

I'm pretty sure InControl does not support smoke alarms yet. I have seen it as a planned addition that they are working on.

That's correct - we have a feature request planned for it. Feel free to throw some votes at it so that you can watch progress:

So are they are not supported at all? Can it not be seen as a sensor of any kind that at least gets tripped?

All the Lowes zwave switches and devise are working with InControl.

I am a newbie (1 day old)to this z-wave. I stayed up to 3 AM this morning working with my new switches and software. So do the Iris items work with my z-wave network? Thanks

Not all Iris devices are Z-Wave. The Iris system uses both Z-Wave or Zigbee. For example, the sensors and lamp module are Zigbee. They do not work with InControl.
all of the light switches, Dimmer, Outdoor Module and duplex outlets are ZWave. They work with InControl.
The smoke detectors are Z-Wave but InControl does not currently work with these.
