Linear/Iris Garage Door Opener state not reporting

I installed InControl HA last night and successfully got it controlling both my Schlage lock and Linear (Lowe's Iris branded) garage door opener control.  However, the "Barrier State" value stays set at 0, and the icon in ICHA doesn't reflect the actual state of the door.  The garage controller seems to function properly otherwise - if the door is open and I send an open command, it doesn't try to open it again.

Have I set something up incorrectly?

Could you right click/auto configure and then report back what message you get? Also, are you able to open and close it then open it again all from within Axial Server (formerly InControl)?

Here's what I get when I do auto configure:

After auto configure, it also changed from GarageDoorOpener to PowerOutlet, which was a bit weird.

Indeed strange that it detected it as a PowerOutlet. Go ahead and change it back to a Garage Door Opener. Did the autoconfigure help?

Auto configure didn't seem to help. I tried again this morning and it again changed the type to a power outlet.

Would you turn on the audit for the device (double click it, check the audit box, then restart your Axial Server).

Once you've enabled the audit option, use the Axial Server or your phone app to open and close the door a couple of times. Note the exact time this happened and then provide the logfile.txt output to us. If you'd like, you can email this into us using our support site or a personal message on the forums to me.

Doh...seeing this now after I opened another thread on the same topic...

I'm having the same issue with mine...I will clear out the logs and do some open and closes and get you the log data.

Feel free to close the other thread...

 Ryan,

PM sent with the details of the log.  I stopped the service and cleared the log, then restarted so you're getting everything from service start to a full cycle of the doors.  Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks,

Steve

We've released an update that should fix the Garage Door reporting problem. You can download it here (version 4.1.5994).

Please let us know if this resolved the problem.

OK, with this version (4.1.5994), the Barrier State is reporting correctly. However, I still see two issues:

1. When I add the device using the Add Device menu, it adds two devices: A Garage Door device, and an Entry Control device. Is this OK? Should I leave that Entry Control device be, or should I delete it?

2. The Battery level is not being reported. I have seen screenshots (in your video where you showed the perimeter fencing demo), where both the Barrier State and Battery level were being reported. It is important to have the battery level, so the door sensor can be properly serviced.

Thanks,

-Kal.

Hi, is there any additional information you need (such as logs) to debug this issue? Thanks!

rscott posted this 29 August 2016

I'd be curious what the two device IDs are. If you click the device, what is the number that shows up for each one? I suspect that your USB stick actually has an old device that was included into its network and it just happens to show up when you add your GDO. You might go do this to remove it: http://docs.incontrolha.com/home/remove-a-failed-device

Also, here's a version 4.1.6060 that has some smarter battery handling. It may help - let me know.

I just installed the IRIS version of this device. It also installed with the entry control device and the garage door device. I have never had an entry control device in my system yet so I deleted the entry control device. It seems to have stayed away and does not seem to affect anything. The garage door controller works perfectly without it.

I also cannot see any battery status. Is there a way to get this to show? As stated by krishkal this is important to know.

Just an FYI, on pairing the sensor to the main controller, and this is what I had to do for the unit I just purchased, you still hold in the button on the main controller for 7 seconds until you hear a beep from the main controller, release the button on the main controller, then press the small button on the sensor once and the main controller will beep once to acknowledge pairing.

Follow-up to above post:

I had the privilege of a windows update last night and after re-starting the computer and axial I have the "entry control device" back in my list of devices. I tried removing it with zensys-tools but it said it failed.

There should be no relationship between these devices and I have never had an entry control device installed on my system.

Is there a way to remove this and why is it being associated with the garage door opener?

Do you see both devices when looking at the zen tools? Are they both at the end of your list and do they both have unique ids? What type of device does zen claim each one is?

cowinger posted this 25 September 2016

I have two of these GDO's. One of them Zen tools showed as a garage door opener and as ID61 and the other also as garage door opener and ID65. The skip in ID's (no 63,64) was because I had to include/exclude a couple of times due to how to figure out how to pair the sensor (as in figuring out to push the small button on the tilt sensor to connect to the GDO unit). Manufacturer must have changed this procedure. The entry control device (same name in zen) as ID62. These are at the end of the list.

Ryan,

A second follow up:

I have a correction on the type of device that zen tools showed. The two GDO's show up in Zen Tools as "Entry Control" for both. The two GDO's have ID's of 61 & 65. There is another ID of 62 that is also there and it shows as a "Entry Control" as it pops up once in a while as a lock device (lock/unlock) in the GUI. I have deleted from axial but it still shows in zen tools and it re-appears in the GUI if you close out the program and re-open it. Zen tools will not delete it.

Why is the program selecting "entry control" for these devices and not "garage door opener"?

Also how do we delete this phantom lock device that keeps popping up?

rscott posted this 26 September 2016

If it's an Entry control inside zen tools, that's how it'll show up inside Axial. It's odd that it's there in the first place, but it's a problem with z-wave/usb stick or the lock itself. Have you tried to remove it using the "remove failed" button?

cowinger posted this 26 September 2016

Then there is something strange going on here because you say that if zen tools says it is an "entry control" then it should show up in axial as an "entry control" but in axial it shows up as a "garagedooropener" when included and with the garage door icon.

What does show up as an "entry control" is the phantom device with the lock/unlock buttons and in the category list it says "entry control". This phantom device appears after the GDO has been included into axial.

I have tried to remove it using the "remove failed" button and it will not remove it.

cowinger posted this 26 September 2016

Ryan,

Good news! I believe I might have found the way to remove this phantom device.

1. open zen tools and select "node neighbor update"
2. select "node info" and it refreshes list.
3. highlight ID you want to remove.
4.select "remove failed" and the ID should disappear.
5. put axial back online and it asked if I wanted to remove unknown device and I said OK
6. It still showed a device box so I highlighted it (blue) and hit the red delete button and it disappeared.

Has not returned and zen tools shows it as gone. Zen tools still shows the two GDO's as a "entry control" though. So not sure on this part. Axial shows both of them as "garagedooropener".
