I would recommend getting one battery operated PIR sensor and if that doesn't cover the complete area purchase a 2nd one. It isn't any more difficult to setup a scene with two PIR instead of one.

I like the AEON Labs 4 in one sensor since it also gives you temperature, humidity and light. The PIR sensor is adjustable via dial knob too.

You can use light sensor to only turn on the light when it is actually dark instead of when someone trips the motion sensor and not using sunset to sunrise parameter.

If you are replacing the switches with a 3 way

?v=2vguVa58PGI, have you considered purchasing an LED bulb like http://www.homedepot.com/p/Cree-60W-Equivalent-Soft-White-2700K-A19-Dimmable-LED-Light-Bulb-BA19-08027OMF-12DE26-2U100/204592770
