I think it has been coming soon for a couple of months now. I'm interested but I'm not sure how it goes with getting power. Might be okay for single fixed glass but what about windows that open and shut and louvres? No indication of cost too.

Could get expensive or ugly with wires hanging around. Might be battery powered?

I'm pretty sure you can buy smart glass if you Google that, did look at it a while ago and would be interesting for a new home.

I've had switchable film for almost a year now on my primary living room window. I have a zwave light switch integrated to control it.

That looks nice! Any ballpark on cost? Looks like they custom cut/fabricate based on job?

Thanks!

I am also very interested. The technology has been around for years but the product cost and installation cost are extremely high. It has been a couple of years since I have looked into it. Please let us know the costs. Also let us know your "likes" and "dislikes". Are you in a cold or hot climate? Humid or dry?

Thanks,
Jim

Nelis,

Something else I would be interested to know is the cycle time (transparent to opaque & back). Is it similar to their animation on the product page?

Also, they list three types: White, gray, superclear. Which do you have?

"Aeon Labs says it's coming soon!"

Trust me... it ain't even breathing hard.

Hong Kong says technical issues remain and there is difficulty reaching their price point target. It's very ambitious. Products from companies like Glass Apps and others are too beaucoup bucks... seriously.

The wait continues.

The cost has come way down. We are currently selling and installing smart film in Florida and some parts of the US. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about the product. Our website for the product is currently in development but you can see our blog at www.smartpowerfilms.net and more info at our main page, www.floridawindowfilms.com

Thanks!

I'm interested in how you provide power to them... also, do you have an API that developers can use to integrate them into smart home products?

We have two versions. One runs at 110v and the other at 50v. They can easily be integrated into any home automation system. For our 110v version we simply run power from the nearest source through the frame and into the films bus bar. The 50v version requires a converter to reduce power.
