Questions about IP Camera

I have a wireless IP camera at my front door, I believe it may be a Foscam FI8918W (but it could possibly be another brand). I added it into my InControl interface (v 3.35), and it seems to work correctly, with a small issue:

The camera is mounted inverted and when I use the directional controls for the camera, Left and right are correct, but up and down are backwards.

In the Web Interface for the camera, you can specify to invert the controls. I believe that InControl is accepting horizontal inverted, but not vertical.

I'm also not clear as to whether a Foscam camera can be used for motion detection. The UI of InControl seems to indicate that setting a value of 255 will allow the camera to detect motion - but it doesn't ever seem to actually trigger.

I suppose the issue might be that my camera is not actually a foscam (it only looks exactly like one, and it at least partially works with InConrol).

Do the Foscam cameras work in InControl as a motion sensor? The web interface of the camera itself has a "security" function that will begin recording a video if there is motion - I guess I am curious if InControl has the ability to use this functionality. I was just looking for an alternative to the Z-wave motion sensors... I guess if I knew that a "real" foscam would provide motion detection, I would probably buy a couple instead of motion sensors. If that functionality doesn't exist, and my camera is only just working marginally with InControl (with inverted up and down), I'll just spring for a couple of motion sensors, and live with my camera as it is...

InControl isn't able to read motion from the cameras, so it sounds like the way you've got it is working properly - other than the reversed controls.

I have the same camera and my controls are reversed too. It seems to be the same thing with a lot of other IP Cam software too.
Some have the option to reverse paning controls and that seems like the only way to fix it. Aside from that you just gotta remember to do the opposite lol.

Can you get the ip address and log into the camera? if so, the cameras i use (not on zwave yet) have options to reverse controls. Good luck.
