When you "assign activiation button" to a scene, when the button is pressed, I would expect the Log to reflect that a button even caused the scene to activate.  It does not seem to work that way.  I have a simple scene that toggles a inwall switch (ac switch) via a button.  when the button is pressed I expect to see  "Success=True" event in the log if the button toggles the switch.  The log remains empty.  Happens if the switch has level logging on or off.
