Group Number in Scenes

Can someone explain what the concept of group number in the Scene Triggers and Conditions are used for? Do this allow you to associate multiple Triggers with multiple conditions?

I want to set a light to turn off automatically based on motion sensor value of 0 for at least 15 min between 8AM - 8PM
then have another trigger that always shuts the light off at 10PM daily.

Would I use group numbers to do this by creating to Trigger groups and associating the conditions with the same group number?

Because of some of the posts I saw about rules vs scenes I started adding triggers to my scenes instead of using rules to activate the scenes. I had the same question about groups but, either I'm doing something wrong or trigger groups don't sync up with condition groups. If they do, why don't they show up in the conditions summary as they do in the trigger summary. That would be really helpful.

I have a bedtime scene which turns of some lights and turns on or dims others. I have two rules which actives that scene, one for weekdays and one for weekends. I tried doing the same thing using trigger groups and condition groups but, at least this weekend, group 2 (the weekend group), didn't work. It was my first attempt so it maybe something I did wrong. We'll see what happens tonight.

I've read where scenes can do everything rules can do but I'm not so sure. I hope rules never go away.

I am looking for the same thing. I want a scene to be activated on Saturdays at one time and on Fridays at another time. Is that possible with triggers and conditions?

I don't believe that is currently possible with one scene. You would have to create a seperate scene for each "set" of conditions, or use rules. Not ideal and hopefully this can be fixed soon. Have ultimate flexibility of create your own set of neseted and/or conditions would be ideal.

I also have no idea what "group" means in the conditions and triggers section of the scene activation. I'm guessing that you could make parallel triggers + conditions groups with this option but I'm struggling to just get the scene to activate based on one trigger and condition. It doesn't seem to like my condition of a virtual device switch = 100. It doesn't activate if I have this condition even though the switch is on (=100).

I'm actually surprised Ryan has not chimed in on this post as he is usually pretty good about answering questions.

If your virtual device is just on or off, I believe it has be 255 even though it has 100 written there from memory.

I believe the best is to use >=1

Ah, good call on that. I'll try that tonight.

If you are talking about the same area as I am I think the bar mentions 100 but for the virtual device it should be 255.

I mentioned it in this post:

Any answer to this. It seems that the trigger groups do not work. For Thermostat Occupied, I setup Trigger/Condition Group 1 for 5:30am (Trigger) and Weekdays (Condition). For Trigger/Condition Group 2, I setup 8am (Trigger) on Saturday and Sundays (Condition). The scene does not activate with this setup. But if I delete Group 2, the scene works. I understand I can setup weekday scenes and weekend scenes, but for simplicity it would be nice to have them combined. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been looking for this ability as well but I don't think it is possible in ICHA. All I have been able to do is write a bunch of duplicate scenes for different days of the week. It works - but it is pretty clunky.
