Adding MJPEG IP Cameras to InControl

As of version 3.48, you can add any camera that has the ability to provide a JPG still image and a mjpeg stream via a URL. To do this, you'll need to figure out what those two URL's are. You could look at the ispyconnect.com website for your camera model, or do a general Google to find these URL's.

If you find a camera in particular, help out your community by replying to this thread with your camera model and the working URL's.

Error message with my TPlink camera. http://IPADDRESS/video.mjpg , http://IPADDRESS/jpg/image.jpg

Even though i set the correct path to my non-foscam mjpeg cam, it looks like the software tries to reach it with a foscam path string (snapshot.cgi=?user=&password=), and returns a 404 error.

Same error here - no matter what URL I put in the error message says http://192.168.254.181:8181/mjpeg.cgi

Could someone (or all of you) provide a screen shot of the message you are seeing along with the screen shot of the screen before you attempt to add the camera?

Here's a bug you can use to track the progress on this one: http://incontrolha.uservoice.com/forums/218427-general/suggestions/5307424-bug-non-foscam-cameras-won-t-show-snapshots

Toss a vote at it and provide an email if you want updated when a fix has been released.

Ryan - I found that if I add the camera is will give this error
After restarting the server is then works.

I hope I didn't lead you astray... sorry if I did.

To clarify though, the Foscam model FI8918W does work with PTZ support. You'd add it using the regular Foscam window. If you have the newer model, they changed the firmware and we haven't caught up yet to adding PTZ support to it; however, you can view streams. I believe we've got a feature request for PTZ on the newer models on our support site.

I have been using InControl HA Pro for a month now with a dozen Z-wave light switches with the beta-USB stick.

I decided to add an outdoor IP camera, specifically:

Dahua BW® IPC-HFW3200S 2Megapixel Full HD Network Small IR-Bullet Camera With POE purchased on Amazon

I got the streaming working in my browser first to verify it worked. Of course Dahua's software and manual didn't provide any addresses, but after some searching and setting up DNS/port-forwarding I have got the snapshot jpg working in Incontrol. I am not totally sure what all I can do at this point? I can see a small pic from camera shows up on my Incontrol HA device menu and a small pic on my Android Incontrol APP when I'm on the screen listing the camera. In the app, I click on the IPcamera with the small pic and I get nothing but black. I also put in the MJPEG URL that I have working on another video stream app, but not sure what Incontrol does with the stream?

I would love to see progression of IP camera integration, which includes me being able to auto-stream/back up to the Incontrol cloud with motion activation. I would pay a monthly for that.

Here are my addresses:

Snapshot:
http://IP.ADDRESS..:80/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?channel=0

MJPEG:
rtsp://user:pass@IP.ADDRESS..
:37777/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&tcp

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I am newer to InControl and I added my Foscam 181918w's to the network and to incontrol. I have them all working and controllable by the ip web interface, by foscam app on my smartphones, but in INCONTROL I can only get them to show the camera and a screenshot. the live feed I am unable to control at all . What am I missing here??

I think that is all it does, show a screenshot.

I removed them as I found I kept getting dropped connection warnings.

I just got a FOSCAM FI8910W. I can see video but I can't get P/T/Z to work. Also, should I be able to see it through the InControl IOS app? All I see is "On\Off" switch for it.

Ryan-

Can you please advise on a step by step tutorial to add an IP camera to enable video streaming. The process is not intuitive. Specifically, a Hikivision DS-2CD-2032 model. From the ISPYCONNECT site, this model is listed as

DS-2CD2032-I FFMPEG rtsp://IPADDRESS:554//Streaming/Channels/1

No matter what I try in the INCONTROL plugin, I get the error message URI FORMATS NOT SUPPORTED.

Thank you!

Also, current implementation does not work with cameras that need an username and a password for accesing mjpg links.

RESOLVED.

After posting this and going about my business setting up my front door lock I randomly clicked onto the IpCamera entry again and now suddenly it shows a snapshot on the right pane. Clicking the snapshot brings up a larger view, where I can select a live feed. It works PERFECTLY.
Strange though that it seemed to take a good half hour after adding the device that it started working.

Original Post:

Hello, brand new user here. I just set up InControl on the 30 day Pro trial and am looking to see if I can get everything set up and working before I jump in and make the purchase.

I have a Schlage WCW100 IP Camera (formerly bundled w/ Nexia system) which I have flashed the NorthQ 9006 firmware onto. I have it successfully setup and working via web browser and I can also open the video feeds in VLC Media Player. As well, I can see the snapshot by browsing to the url.

I found as mentioned that I could neither use HTTPS nor authentication in my URL string as I originally wanted. I have decided that I don't need either since my InControl server will be accessing the feed locally, then sending that out to my mobile device.

So after toying with the settings, I managed to get it to accept my IP camera using:
http://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=northq

Snapshot: http://IPADDRESS/img/snapshot.cgi
Video URL: http://IPADDRESS/img/video.mjpeg

After adding the IP camera, an entry is created in devices called IpCamera, however it has a red exclamation mark and I cannot seem to view any alerts or errors to tell what the problem could be. There is no video or picture output (does it show anything/snapshot/video feed in the software with a working IP camera?).

Thanks for your help.

Ryan,

Perhaps you could list a few Foscam models for which PTZ does work? I've tried a number of older models I had lying around and although imaging works fine there is no PTZ response.

Help?

Ryan,

I have Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I cameras. If I request a snapshot from them in Firefox, using the URLs below, I get a snapshot image.

http://user:password@XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:port/Streaming/channels/1/picture (with authentication)

http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:port/Streaming/channels/1/picture (without authentication)

If I try to plug either of these URLs into the I get the 401 returned error. What would be different? This is without adding a MJPEG URL.
