I'm doing a camera that will signal detected motion a few different ways. (DCS-7513) The most conventional way is through normal contacts like a motion detector. The other ways involve uploading either snapshots or footage to specific locations on a server, or emailing.

I like the ways that involve uploading since it requires less wiring, but I don't know if InControl has a detector of this type yet. Anyone know if InControl can detect a new file in a specific location as motion type of an event?

If not, there's a plugin that needs to be written.

It's either that or do the wires to InControl-In method I mention before, a little pricy too...

So you'd monitor a folder and if a file shows up or is changed, you'd trigger a scene inside of InControl?

Yes. A virtual motion detector that is, in reality, a specific file directory on a disk simply being monitored for new files being written. Each time a new file is written is the same as a motion trigger.

Or, we could convince the camera manufacturers to do this via upnp, and do it that way :-) .....

I use Netcam Studio Server as it has GET actions for motion alerts, it also has sound alerts with a TON of options. You can just configure your cameras in there and then create a virtual device to turn on when things happen. No point trying to make something better than this. It's free for 4 cameras.
