I have the latest non beta in-control using the multi-user security plugin and the latest android app. When I try using direct connect it "see's the server", I DO NOT get the unable to connect to server. But I cannot control any of the devices. In-control running on an Win xp laptop with port 8711 forwarded. I have tried two different routers with the same result.
I thought this was a known issue sorry if its not.

I assume you see no devices?
The problem is likely Windows XP. It doesn't work with Direct Connect because of a bug in a Windows library. Since Microsoft dropped support, it's a bug that won't ever get fixed, unfortunately.
