Motor control should just show up and work like a dimmer I believe, though I haven't actually tested one yet.

We don't stock or ship to AU, unfortunately.

Hey guys, I'm very new to InControl and automation (but I am a IT technician) so I was wondering if you could help clear some things up for me?

1. Can I use InControl with just a Vera lite or do I need an V-Stick?

2. Can I use an IR device with InControl, (such as a ZXT-120). I want to be able to turn my A/C on and off.

3. Will InControl work with double in wall switches? I can see that they require "MultiChannel functionality". This way I can turn on/off 2 circuits instead of putting in 2x single controllers.

4. Can it accept RTSP video steams or the new universal ONVIF camera protocol?

Cheers,
Nathan

Hi Nathan -

1) We recommend the USB stick, though there is 'experimental' support for the vera lite. You aren't able to use the beta controller with it, which means you won't ever have support for multi-channel nor for some thermostats. You can use the IP address found in tools/options/zwave controller.

2) IR support is planned using Global Cache. Feel free to vote for it on this Trello card to push it up higher on our priority list.

3) Multi-channel doesn't work yet, though it's something we hope to have in a near release

4) Camera support is being worked on currently; our first supported format will be MJPEG, followed by RTSP.

Thanks for the reply!

I forgot to ask about roller shutter control and if it was possible?

I dont suppose you have AU gear in you store?

I am also looking at buying Incontrol, does incontrol pro work with a leviton VRC0P-1LW. I need to purchase the leviton for using irule and i don't want to have to buy two controllers.

Also how does the smart phone talk to the switches. I assume through some Ethernet to z wave device.

Hello-

I'm just setting up my incontrol system. I have Pro version and an AEON labs USB (self powered).

I have been running ThinkEssentials with a ThinkStick USB and about a dozen Intermatic vintage dimmers and wall warts since about 2009.

Can I run InControl in parallel with TE? I have two programs, I have two ZWave USB sticks. Not sure that I need to run two programs simultaenously, just asking.

Big question is if I have a device that is part of the TE network, can I add it to the InControl network as well, or can it only belong to one network at a time? I tried using the AEON labs USB stick to add a device (tap button on stick, tap button on device) but it does not want to add-- USB stick just keeps blinking- no steady 3 second light, then usb light turns off.

I probably should know this stuff, but it's been a while since I set up my network- I am average joe consumer technogeek, but not a programmer.

Thank you Tim W.

We don't currently work with the Leviton RS232 device; typically we recommend using an Aeon Labs ZStick. It might be possible to make it work with a little work on our end, though we'd need to get our hands on one and play with it before we'd know.

For the smart phone to talk to your z-wave devices, it requires InControl to be running on a PC. It actually doesn't talk directly though, it speaks to InControl, which then relays the commands to your z-wave devices using a controller like the ZStick (or in your case the rs232 controller).

Hi Tim -

Only one program can access a USB stick at a time, so you'd definitely need two of them and you'd need to replicate your network from your master controller to the 2nd usb stick since a device can only belong to a single z-wave network. Your blink is because the other device already belongs to an existing network. If you figure out the replicate command and you'll be able to use both usb sticks to control the same set of lights.

Thanks very much for getting back to me.

InControl is way too cool- very nice work. Just downloaded Android app. Still just playing around with it to get the feel with some spare controlers that are not a part of my existing network. Once I have time I will fully set up and transition from old TE to InControl.

When you say "figure out the replicate command" can you pont me in the right direction for how I would go about this. Maybe there is something I could Google for a relatively cook book type approach. But if this is going to be a research project I'll just skip it and have one system, one controller, one network.

By the way, my wife is planning to get a new phone in next monh or so and she is an avid Blackberry user so waiting to see what new phone looks like. She is somewhat on the edge for choice of OS... I kep saying Android. Do you have any plans to support Blackberry in near term or wait and see?

Thanks again and very, very cool.

Tim

The easy thing is to stop using TE since InControl can pretty much do anything TE can and more. However, if you want to keep using both, TE has a built-in replicate command. You'd use that to connect to your ThinkStick and then another tool like zen-tools to connect to your other USB stick. Start the replication in TE, then start receiving it in zen tools.

We may someday support a Blackberry app, however because of the market outlook for that platform it may not be for a while. As of right now though it's not on the near-term todo list. Android will always be our most up-to-date platform followed by iOS and Windows 8 (meaning we'll do updates for Android first, then iOS then Windows).

Four years later I'm guessing the RTSP camera support never happened... Any hope of getting this resurrected?
