It is interesting. I started with inControl a couple years ago, and had some issues so I bought a Vera 3. I had nothing but problems with Vera, it has memory leaks so it eventually locks up and requires reboot. The new UI-7 is absolute CRAP. Plugins are not well tested and are generally useless. I switched back to inControl, which is now more stable (for me) than it was back when I first bought it. I will never go back.
The real "automation" is in scenes. Being able to control stuff by phone is cool, but I wouldn't call it automation either.

I thought this was interesting. InControl already covers several of points the article makes about local logic and customizable automation. I also love reading the comments on these types of article as they sometimes give me new ideas.
Nice find and interesting read. I'll browse through the comments too, I also enjoy seeing what others are doing.

That was one of the things that I have greatest difficulty with.
I was looking for some smart bulbs for some lamps. Its great that I can control and turn on and off with my phone and I can also set timers etc.
All up until my wife wants to turn off the lamp and turns off the power switch.....
