I have seen many discussions here on z-wave garage door openers which all seem to be rather expensive (especially if you already have working openers that are not z-wave), so I thought there might be a way to acheive the same end result at a lower cost on an existing opener. I recently purchased two non-branded z-wave garage door sensors from Monoprice (product 11987) which work well (so far) in reporting the current door position. Next I purchased a GoControl Z-Wave Isolated Contact Fixture Module - FS20Z-1 from Amazon and hooked it up in parallel to the existing button. I created a scene that simply has that relay as the device, first in the on state and then in the off state with a startup delay of 1000 msec on the second - running the scene has the same effect as pushing the button, opening or closing the door depending on it's current state. All in all under $60 to make it go.
