Aeon Labs In-Wall Dimmer Questions

Got a few questions about these:

1. They say that they work with existing switches. Just curious about what takes priority. If I have the Aeon Labs Dimmer connected to a dimmer switch, and I turn the physical switch all the way down to OFF, can incontrol still control the switch? If I use incontrol to set the switch to 50% power and then someone comes and moves the physical switch to 75% is incontrol going to override this?

2. What is the difference between the two Dimmers in the store?

3. Can either of them be used to control a ceiling fan motor?

Thanks!

If you were to turn the light to off with the wall switch, InControl could still turn it back on, even if the wall switch remained "off." The next time you used the wall switch. If you then went and used the wall switch again, the light would respond to it and turn off or on or dim -- depending on what you tell it to do from the switch. The same would hold true for setting a dim level... though I do need to admit I'm not exactly sure what the behavior would be for the type of wall switch that has a "bar" for sliding up and down to set the level. InControl would still be able to adjust the level regardless, but how that impacts the switch, I'm not sure.

One of the dimmers is able to record energy usage (the Smart one). The other does not.

The micro SWITCH can control a ceiling fan, but only to turn it on or off and only if it's under 10 Amps. The model number for that item is AEODSC18103. Note, the micro ILLUMINATOR (dimmer) is unable to control a fan.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Just one more question. I noticed that these switches require a neutral. I know that some dimmers that do not have a neutral, power the z-wave module by allowing a small amount of power to pass through the relay which has a negative side effect on low power CFL and LED dimmable lights (flickering?). At least this is how I understood it.

Having the neutral allows the z-wave radio to receive power without allowing power to pass through the relay. Is this correct with these switches? Have you tried them with dimmable cfl or led?

Thanks

I haven't tried with dimmable CFL's, but I've got one hooked up to some LED's. I don't notice any flicker with them, though the ability to dim the LED's leaves a little bit to be desired. It's not as nice as dimming an incandescent bulb.
