Alarm.com Network

I've been trying to add the Aeon S2 Z-Stick to my Alarm.com network with no success. The Alarm.com network is not very reliable and will show some devices have "malfunctioned" in their terminology. The "malfunction" may last a few hours or a few days and seems to be caused by the lack of a strong signal from the Alarm.com board installed on the Celluar module for communications with their server.

I tested my theory with a ControlThink stick using Think Essentials Pro software and GoToMyPC on my home PC for controlling the 16 various devices I have. It functioned flawlessly, however, since it is no longer supported, I prefer to use InControlHA with the more powerful Aeon Stick and the excellent support from Ryan :-)

Has anyone been able to add the Aeon Stick to Alarm, com as the primary controller?

Are you sure you need your usb stick to be the primary controller? Will it work as a secondary? As far as InControl is concerned, it shouldn't matter -- except that as a secondary you can't use it to add/remove nodes unless your primary is also a SIC/SUC node.

I was hoping the Aeon stick could be the primary controller in both networks so when I add a new device it would show up on both. I know there can be only one primary controller in a network and each network has a unique Home ID so I probably can't use the same controller in 2 networks.

You'd definitely need to combine both networks together. You would probably need to exclude your current USB devices then join them with Alarm.com, then add the USB stick as a secondary controller.

Two problems come to mind. Alarm.com says to add the primary controller first then add the devices that are set in their permanent location. Next, where do I find the Home ID in InControl?

Are you not able to exclude them with your ZStick, then re-add them with the primary, then add the ZStick as a secondary? Guess I don't understand the full problem with that.

InControl doesn't expose the home ID... do you need that for some reason with Alarm.com? You might could find it by using the Zen Tools.

PROBLEM SOLVED

Think Essestials Pro program has an option under Settings/Switch To (Or Join) Another Network/“Recover a lost network” when using the Control Think stick (this option won't work with the Aeon Labs Z-stick since it does't have “installer” firmware). The 2Gig GoControl panel shows the Home ID under Software Version so all I had to do was type in the Home ID and all my devices were discovered. I deleted the InControl "zwave.sdf" file found in the directory Program Data/Zwave, plugged in the Control Think stick, opened InControl and let it rebuild the "zwave.sdf" file which obtained my devices from the Control Think stick.

I now have another way to control my devices when Alarm.com goes on the blink :-)
