Battery Powered Devices Lose Config After Reboot

I noticed that when you first add a battery powered sensor, in my case the door sensor from Aeon Labs, InControl will also display the batter life percentage after you click auto configure. However this goes away after the application\server is rebooted. The device still function but I no longer see batter life. Is there a way to fix this?

I have the Aeon Labs 4-in-1 motion sensors and it appears to me that they only report their sensor readings about once every 5 minutes (including battery).

I guess you could set them to be polled sooner, but that would just chew up the battery sooner...

InControl depends on the device sending the battery level. Each manufacture has their own time at which it's sent; I'm not sure what the default is for the sensor, but there's probably a configuration parameter you can change to make it faster.

The app should keep the values it had though. Computers reboot all the time.

Yes, it could be made to keep the value and you are welcome to add a feature request for it to get it on our list.

It would be ideal to figure out how to configure your sensor to send the values to InControl though, otherwise it'll get stale and won't reflect the actual battery level.

From this PDF (among several other hits I found), it looks like the Aeon Labs Door/Window sensor sends a battery report every time the switch is open/closed.

HTH!

I can confirm... unless you force poll the device shortly after it is triggered, you will never get battery status back with the way InControl works.

Aeon Labs D/W automatically sends back battery status at their own interval. I'm not sure what it is -- and it might be possible to configure through parameters. If someone knows, please share
