I also have a rule that won't delete. I have tried removing scenes and I have no conditions.
Please let me know if you are able to delete and what you did.

Thanks

If you have conditions, try deleting those first and then you should be able to delete the rule.

As a side note, we'd suggest you avoid using rules -- they will be going away eventually -- and use scenes with triggers & conditions instead.

I was having the same issue on one rule. It wouldnt delete, but after clearing the conditions and rule data I was able to delete it.

Will there be any loss in functionality? For instance, I have a virtual light that I use to tell me if any outside. I then have it configured to turn off all "outside" lights when switched off. It works kinda like mirroring but gives me more of a zone control.

Still can't delete the rule. I have tried to removing all conditions, scenes, triggers and other rules. I stopped using rules when I read an earlier post about using conditions and triggers(much easier)instead of rules. My system hangs (not responding) while trying to delete the rule then eventually comes back and takes the server offline. Rule still remains.

It sounds like your server is crashing... can you open up a support ticket and send us your logfile.txt and any Windows Application Event logs that appear from InControl?

I took a look to see if I could do what I wanted in a scene. Until you can put device state changes in their own trigger groups and track the differ state changes like you can in rules, removing rules would limit the functionality of your product.

Can you describe a scenario?

I have a Rule that watches for a virtual node called "Away Mode" to turn off. When it turns off and the temp is below 65 degrees outside it kicks off my "Home (Cold Weather)" scene. I then have another rule that does the same type thing but for when the temp is over 70 degrees. It then kicks off my "Home (Warm Weather)" scene. I had to use a rule because I couldn't put a device trigger in it's own trigger group in a scene. You can only have trigger groups that include time. If you update scenes to allow device triggers to be in their own groups in a scene, I should be able to work around this limitation for this scenario.

I have another config where I have another virtual node (I love these things) that I use to tell me if any of the outside lights have been left on. It watches the state of all the outside light switches. If any one of them is ON the virtual node indicator for "Outside Lights" will be on. I can then use that same indicator to turn off the outside lights incase any of them are left on. Now I wouldn't need this if your "Room\Groups" worked.

So don't kill rules quite yet... there is value to them.
