Command Expired Errors

Hi All,

I've all of a sudden started to get a lot of Command Expired warnings.

I've done a network heal, double checked that all the battery powered devices are not being polled. It appears to be various nodes that get the message though I'm seeing nodes 11, 12 and 16 more often. (All double micro switches) I'm pretty sure most things are in range. I've about 20 devices including micro switches which are powered (and being polled if that makes a difference).

There is one Device that keeps getting woke up messages (device 6) in the log which is a door sensor but It isn't set to poll and has recently started to fail. Battery level is 100%. I get responses from the door sensor (device 6) without a problem.

Any suggestions on things to try?

Thanks Josh

I've seen USB sticks actually misbehave and cause this. You might try going offline, pulling the stick, re-inserting it then going back online again.

You could also try to cut power to your switches to force them to 'reboot' as well - though I've never seen the problem with the micro switch, I've seen it happen with other Aeon lab's device and cutting power always seems to fix them.

Not intentionally but I have done both as well.

I had to add two new devices and they weren't adding through inControl (Tools - ZWave Commands - Add Device)
All previous devices I've added like that with no problems if that makes a difference.
I had to unplug the USB and add the devices that way.

I've had to add more micro switches over time and so the power has been cut to all the micro switches on the lighting circuit. I haven't tried it with any of the others like smart plugs or battery devices.

The only device that is battery powered that seems to pop up is device 6 which is a door switch so I don't know if that is the buggy item.

The rest of the items that get failed messages appears mostly lighting switches and it can be different ones all the time.

I've removed the one battery device that was coming up in the error reports. It appears to be better but I'm still getting command expired messages.

It appears to be only on the in wall double micro switches.

Are you completely unable to control them at this point or is it somewhat random?

Maybe removing and re-adding the misbehaving devices would help?

As far as I can tell, random. The log shoes random times. Everything still responds most of the time but sometimes things appear to be delayed/doesn't activate or I get a scene that doesn't fire.
I've disabled polling on the multi switches yesterday and left polling on the sub devices that allow control over the individual switch and so far (almost 24hrs) no errors but I'll wait a bit first.

I've stopped the polling of the Aeon Multi switches and they do seem to have stopped coming up.

I'm still polling the individual switches but not the multi. They aren't battery powered.

I'll give it a few days and see how it goes.

If you associate those Aeon switches with the USB stick, you may be OK not polling them except at very large intervals to get the initial state when InControl starts up.

Polling was every 30 seconds initially.

They are associated with the USB stick at the moment.

what do you normally recommend for polling a normal device and in this case?
