I haven't tried IFTTT.
From any browser you should be able to toggle devices.

Is there a way to use my mobile phone's location as a trigger? I have an iPhone 5S running iOS 7.1.
I would like some lights to turn on when I come home after dark and turn off once I drive away.
What about using IFTTT?
What is the means of sending a command over IP to the InControl HA server?

Thanks for that information...it's encouraging.
Two questions:
1) How is a virtual Device created?
2) Can I use the virtual Device as a Trigger for a Scene?
3) How can I activate the virtual Device remotely from the internet, e.g. send it a command or an SMS or an email etc.?
OK that's three questions, lol.
Actually, this would be super easy if the feature was built right into the mobile app.

Thanks, that's a big help.
The way I look at InControl HA, it's a home automation program. It's not really automated if I have to trigger things with my fingers on the phone. That's simply remote control. Maybe I want my home automation system to turn lights on and off, operate my coffee pot, play the kind of music I like, etc. based on me doing things in my life like waking up, leaving home, being 30 minutes away from arriving back at home, arriving at home, etc. Since my phone is a connected device with location tracking, it can act as a proxy for me. Wherever I go, whatever I do, my phone does with me. So I want to use my phone as an important input for home automation, not just manual remote control.
I think that can be one of the limitations of the iphones. With android getting root and access to all the those things makes it easier.
Tasker for android is one of the best apps out there. I've got it toggling devices at the moment that indicate when I've left the home, when I wake up and when I sleep.
I don't have too many physical devices at the moment due to costs and I'm trying to get a few other things going first but so far it seems to link in well. Z wave devices here in Australia cost a fair bit more than the US.

I look forward to hack-free solutions that are engineered for non-rooted devices. Every hack that I've ever done eventually breaks when something else changes in the system that renders it non-functional.
On iOS, IFTTT probably has the most potential right now. Phillips HUE and the Belkin Wemo devices have IFTTT channels and can be recipe-triggered.
