I am new to Home Automation and very adequate with computer systems. However I have a few things that I think I know or want but would like some input. If you have any input please let me know.

1. I believe I am decided on Z-wave instead of Zigbee just due to the options that are avaliable.

2. I want to get either the USB aeon stick or the green and white controller(can't remember the name)

3. Is there a selection of video cameras that will work with the aeon usb stick and in conjunction with the incontrol app for smart phones so that you can stream video?

4. What is the main differences other than the usb stick has to be in a computer to operate, compared to the (green and white stand alone system) again can't remeber the name?

5. I eventually want to enable the entire house if this helps with any suggestions.

It's a good choice. You are right that there is more availability with z-wave; it's a much more mature technology. Zigbee also suffers in that devices from different manufacturers don't always speak the same dialect of Zigbee, so you would get further limited in your options to just devices from a single manufacturer.

IP Camera support is not yet fully supported, though the first brand supported will be Foscam.

I believe you are talking about the Vera unit? If you use that, you don't need a computer to be on, however you also lose the features offered through InControl, such as phone access, events, etc.
