Just recieved the zstick/InControl Pro software today and am installing my devices. All seem to work except my Schlage lock on my front door. It added to the zstick as a light, I changed it to an entrycontrol device and it now says lock/unlock, but still does nothing. Any ideas?

Could you grab your logfile.txt found in your install folder and send it?

You can also try these if you haven't already.

1. From the Tools menu, run Controller Setup and verify that your USB stick is properly connected (You'll see "Controller" show up in your device list when it is.

2. If your lock is already included into your network, please exclude it now.
From within InControl, go to Tools/Options/Z-Wave Controller and check "Use Beta Z-Wave Controller"

3. Reboot your computer

4. Include your lock using InControl by using the Tools/ZWave Commands/Add menu. This part is vital, as without it, InControl won't know the security keys to use for communication with the lock. For Kwikset locks, it's possible to take the back of the lock off and move it near the computer. A laptop with InControl can also be used for this step.

5. Test your lock - if all went well, you should see a lock show up in your device list and you should be able to issue Lock/Unlock commands from the console.

Ryan, Your email that you sent me last night fixed it right up. I didn't see the special lock setup procedures needed. Once done, the lock works great!

(Removed comments/requests and am posting in proper forum)

Otherwise, love your product! Only been using it for a day, but seems to be exactly what I needed!

Any chance you've looked into a web interface? Would be nice to use at work, rather than my phone.

Also, one other comment regarding the Android app. Once setup, is there a way that once I have it connected to my server at home, I can bypass the "Tap the icon to access the menu" icon at the top of the program everytime it starts on my phone? Seems like it adds a few steps that aren't needed and take time and extra clicks, as long as your username/password don't change.

One more small question, can you look into making the back button on Android not kick you out of the app? It's very frustrating to go into a switch, then click back (thinking its going to go back to the main InControl HA screen) and it kicks me back to my phone launcher. Basically just having it work like 99% of the other android apps out there.

It's funny you should bring those Android app items up. Try this out and tell me what you think -- it's a pre-release version of the Android app: www.incontrolzwave.com/InControlHomeAutomationbeta21.apk

As far as the Web interface, here's a Trello card that you can go vote up.

The procedure described here to register a lock, also worked with my kwikset lock.

Hmmm... don't know what happened with my previous post so I apologize if I duplicate this..

Some small notes on the Kwikset

(1) Have to remember that if you delete the Kwikset from the network, it will wipe out all the codes. I deleted before adding it manually and realized this. Deleted from the network again, added all my codes then manually added back to InControl - now works like a charm.

(2) I have double wrought iron doors with a full handset where the deadbolt is part of the door. No way I was ditching the matching door handles considering their cost (plus I like the way they look). Note that you do not need the keypad for zwave to work. I configured the Kwikset with the keypad then added to the network etc. I used the Kwikset cylinder and also the deadbolt (the new deadbolt is tapered and assures you the deadbolt will engage - the original Kwikset Smartkey deadbolt was not tapered and thus unforgiving when locking). Sure you need a key to get in from the outside, but I never intended to give a keypad code to anyone and heck, I can now lock/unlock from my Android anyway.

Thanks Ryan for a superb InControl product. And also for always answering my questions and helping me set up this super modern home!!
