Software loses contact with controller at end of heal

I'm using the USB Z-Stick. When I try to run a routine network heal, it makes it through most of the devices and at the end a warning dialog pops up that communication with the controller has been lost. It asks for the controller to be unplugged for 10 seconds and plugged back in. This procedure doesn't work. Re-booting the PC is required to re-establish communications to the controller.

I had this exact problem.
In my case the Z-Stick was connected to the host PC via a 5 foot long USB extension. I would unplug the Z-Stick from the extension cable as directed and reconnect but still I had to reboot to get things working again. What fixed it for me was to move the extension cable to a different USB port and my problem disappeared. Out of curiosity I moved it back to the original port and it continues to work correctly. My assumption was a poor electrical contact between the extension cable and the PC.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for your response. I ended up buying a powered USB extension cable and moving the stick out into the ceiling of my basement hallway to improve its radio performance. That seems to have done the trick. Network heals are rarely needed, and when they are performed they run through very quickly and end successfully. No more issues with losing communication between the PC and the stick.
