Start as service.

Hi,

I have set the "run as a service" in the options, but it seems to have no effect.

When starting the computer, the incontrol program does not start automatically. I am required to log in to the PC, and manually open the program after restarting the computer every time before SmartHomethe mobile app will "see" anything and operate the system remotely.

Furthermore, I get a windows warning every time I restart the incontrol application: :Do you want to make changes to this computer?"

Is there a way to make the incontrol program run like I believe s service should? Start automatically and run whenever the PC is powered up?

Here in Thailand, power cuts are not uncommon, and I need the PC to be able to recover and the incontrol program to start on its own.

I have set the BIOS to restart the computer, but the incontrol software always needs to be started / openend manually.

Any light that anyone can shed on this problem is greatly received!

Edit to add- using Windows 8.1 and incontrol standard version 3.126.5305.30731

Open control panel and try to set UAC (User Account Control) to never modify. Also check that the windows account you use, is a member of the administrators group.
Thanks

Just to add a note of clarification- there are two pieces to InControl. One is the GUI that you launch when you run, and the other is the "server" that actually does all the work. The "Online/Offline" button controls this server. When you have it set to "Run as a service" this server pieces gets installed to run as a service and will start automatically when your computer reboots. Even if the GUI is offline, this server will still run if it's set to run as a service. You'll be able to look at your system services and see one in there for InControl.

The option to "never modify" might make InControl be unable to interact with the server; for the most part that's probably OK, but note that if you ever want to go offline/online manually, you may be unable to do so.
