Upgrade procedure?

What is the correct upgrade procedure?

I was running v3.38 and trying to get my basic stuff running. Had the Z-Stick, one dimmer, and the "Weather" device.

I downloaded the iPhone app and got the message that it requires v3.40 on the server side.

I downloaded v3.43 (3.43.5060.17923 Pro) and did an "in-place" setup, thinking that all of my settings would just carry over...

Once I ran InControl after finishing setup, there were no devices. I re-added the controller which brought back all of my devices, but now there are three controller entries - the original Z-Stick (#1), and now two entries for "Controller" (#5). Now I cannot control the dimmer (the only device I'm working with now). It looks like I will need to delete everything and start from scratch. I ran the network heal and that didn't help either...

I would hate to think if I had dozens of devices/scenes/rules and had to start from scratch after an upgrade. What should I have done?

Actually, what you did was fine... your database should have been kept in-tact and working. I wonder if perhaps your service didn't restart after the update - it could be simply that you need to reboot to get things back to normal too.

Does it show you are "online" in the lower right hand corner?

It does. I can't remember if it did for sure, but the service is running. It was stopped and restarted during setup.

I already deleted everything and reset the Z-Stick and started over. As I go through this learning curve, I will likely have to reset more than once! LOL!

Thx!
