Many times the device status indicated inside the Android app does not reflect the actual status of the device. For example, it will show a light as off when it is actually on.

Wondering if I have something configured incorrectly?

Does that same light show the correct status on InControl running on your PC? Does tapping refresh in the Android app help update the correct status?

That's a good suggestion. The device status in the Android app matches the device status in InControl HA. However, both show incorrect status for some devices. For example, in the evening 9/10 lights should be on. However 3/9 are showing Off in the software even though they are On.

Is this a Z-Wave coverage problem? Sometimes I get the red alerts but usually only on one or two devices. I have set everything to Smart Routing.

Yes, if the device isn't being polled often enough (30 seconds is the recommendation generally), or if the device doesn't respond to polls, it'll cause the status to be wrong.

Additionally, if you have devices that support associations, you can associate them to the USB stick so that they'll report back their status instantly when operated manually at the wall switch. That should also help.

I think all of my devices are associated to the Aeon Z-stick. I added them to the network via the "walk over with the Z-stick and operate the device" method. But maybe I don't understand the concept of "devices that support association"...

I ordered an Aeon signal booster. I am kind of surprised that with 10 devices I have communications issues. My PC is in the basement and the two closest devices are 9 feet through a standard drywall and 12 feet through a drywall ceiling and wooden floor.
