InControl HA + Aeon Stick as secondary controller

Hi,
I have a Smartthings hub connected to a bunch of z-wave devices. I am very pleased with the progress of ST but since it is cloud based, I would like to add some redundancy to the system with a secondary controller.
Would an Aeon USB stick + InControl be able to work as a secondary controller? I know ST doesn't work as a secondary controller.

Also, I get the impression InControl HA is a one-man-show, and I don't mean this as criticism, but is it possible to keep up with all the fronts, including support, mobile apps, and main software this way?

InControl will work with a secondary controller, so assuming ST will allow you to setup a secondary, then you should be golden.

I personally handle support and most development efforts. There's one other tech guy helping maintain some of the software, though he doesn't pop up much. How do I do keeping up? Guess the community may need to answer that one.

Thanks for the response. Seems you are doing a fine job.

As I understand from the Aeon literature (very breif by the way), in order for the Aeon stick to work as a secondary controller, it would have to work in Serial API-Mode, so the ability to associate to an existing network would be up to the software, in this case InControl HA. From your response, I presume this option is available.

I've ordered an Aeon USB stick and as soon as I get it I will request a trial of the Pro version from you.

Hi Ryan,
I received my Aeon Stick and downloaded the Pro Trial v. 3.99 RC. I setup the Aeon stick but cannot find a way to associate to an existing Z-Wave network so I can use InControl as a secondary controller. Aeon's manual says to look for a Learn, Sync or Add as Secondary Controller option in the software but can't seem to find any of those options in InControl.

I was under the impression from your first response to the original post, that IC indeed had this option. Am I missing something?

You have to use the Zensys tools listed in Ryan's signature. InContol will have to be offline while you do it. Put the other controller into inclusion mode and then click the "Start Learn Mode" (lighting bolt) button in Zensys tools. This will be in the "Controller" tab on the right side of the interface.

Thanks Erocm123. That did the trick. Apparently when I add a new device I have to run the tool again as it doesn't show up otherwise. Is this so?

Yes, this is true. Your master controller will know about the device, but until you 'sync' it back to your z-stick, it (your usb stick) won't know about the new device.

If you add the device via SmartThings, you will have to go into the Zensys tool and click the "Request Update" button that is a few down from the lightning bolt icon.

If you add the device with InControl or just via the Z-Stick, it should automatically update SmartThings.

I prefer adding devices via the Z-Stick as it is battery powered and I can take it around the house. When I do it that way, the device shows up on both of my controllers.

Thanks. I will keep that in mind.
I have a question regarding my lock but will make post with new subject.
