Think of the "scenes" as a way to set any number of your devices (in your case just the switch) to a given state.

The "Devices" tab in the scene is the one you want to add your switch to. The "Triggers" tab is what should trigger the scene to be initiated. The "Conditions" tab is the various conditions that must be met after the trigger occurs in order to take the actions on the "Devices" tab.

Try this:
- Create a new scene and call it "Test".
- On the "Devices" tab - choose to add a device, then add your switch. When you see it appear in the list, choose to turn it ON.
- Again on the "Devices" tab - choose to add a pause. When you see the pause appear in the list, change the delay to 10,000 milliseconds(10 seconds).
- Finally, again on the "Devices" tab - choose to add a device, then add your switch. When you see it appear in the list, choose to turn it OFF.

Click on the "Activate Scene" button that appears next to your new scene in the left-hand list. Your light should turn on, then in 10 seconds it will turn off.

That is the very basics, just keep playing with adding triggers (such as setting a trigger to run this test scene at the next half hour mark while you experiment with creating a new scene).

I thought of another way to describe it:

For a give scene, when the "triggers" occur and the given "conditions" are met, all devices in the "devices" tab will be set to the described state. The "devices" tab is a bit of a sequential action, with the pre-script noted running first, then sequence specified in the device list (inclusive of the "pauses") will be run, ending with the post-script.
